On Sunday November 11th, Veronica Zerrer and Zander Keig were among those honored in a short ceremony at the Uptown Tavern. The event, ‘Salute to Service,’ was sponsored by Equality California (EQCA) and Coor’s Light and meant to highlight the service of Transgender troops in the military currently and in the past.

Veronica, as a military retiree, had a twenty-three year career in the Army. Zander served in the Coast Guard before embarking on a Social Work career, and Akira Wyatt represented the active duty and reserve personnel currently serving. Ms. Wyatt currently serves as a medic in the US Navy.

In addition to a packed house of onlookers, Fox News was on hand to cover the event for their evening news broadcast.

EQCA Board Member Andrea Cubitt coordinated the event acting as MC and presenting each honoree with their certificates.
