With characteristic energy that combined innovative acts, and with an entertaining panche, the Dream Girls Revue brought home the bucks for a local charity that helps Trans youth.
Their most recent benefit performance was held Wednesday December 12 at Mo’s in Hillcrest benefitting Trans Family Support Services (TFSS), a charity that Neutral Corner has financially supported in the past. According to Kathie Moehlig, the Executive Director of TFSS the successful evening could not have happened without the support of Dream Girls. The audience was filled with leaders from the Trans community such as representatives of the Imperial Court “Lady Pepper”, and Jelecia King. Deja Cabrera, the Trans Program Coordinator for the LGBT Center was in the audience. Other members of the San Diego Gay community attended such as Jen LaBabera from SD Pride. Helping out at the event were The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the leather community.
Veronica Zerrer and Michelle Dungan represented the Neutral Corner while Veronica who also serves as the Board President of TFSS pulled double duty. Kathie Moehlig reported that the fund raiser garnered 10% more revenue from the previous year. TransFamily Support Services supports the families of Trans youth with education and coaching services that range from education about Trans issues to helping to fill out transition related forms.
