For the fourth time in as many years, Neutral Corner tabled at the North County LGBTQ Resource Center’s Pride By The Beach event. The organization provided brochures, business cards, annual reports, and other paraphernalia to inform the public about our mission of education and charity.
The majority of event attendees who stopped by were curious about our mission and history. Others wanted to know of resources and ways to support their own children or family members or friends with gender issues. And many children walked away with free wrist bands.
We informed the public about our role as a community development organization. We do this through fundraising for our youth scholarship, awarded every April at the Trans Day Of Empowerment. We also maintain our Website and Facebook page featuring a blog and local events that keeps area members of the trans community updated on events happening locally and nationally. These are in addition to the venues and activities that Neutral Corner provides for meetings and support.
To raise money for our transyouth scholarship fund, the organization offered the premium of magnetic pins for each donation. Each carried the message Stand With Trans, either in rainbow circle and blue and pink stripes, or with the combined Venus/Mars gender symbol.
Neutral Corner’s participation in Pride By The Beach is part of the organizations ongoing outreach work throughout the county.
